“Listen… do you hear the train coming?”
When I was a kid, my Uncle Gene Strickland would ask me that question whenever we were outside and we would hear the Seaboard Coast Line trains rolling through Youngsville, NC, some five miles to the west.
Forty years later I still listen for trains, so when I walked out of the sacristy of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorndale this morning after reading the Old Testament and Epistle lessons, I immediately heard the sound of a train horn in the distance.
I was just in time to catch this photo of the Texas Eagle heading north toward Temple.
