Our home church has, for every year of its existence, held a service on Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord (aka Ascension Day). Up until this year, that is.
Okay, I know it may sound like the church broke with a long-standing tradition… unless you also know that it was only founded in 2022, and “every year of its existence” prior to this year only includes 2022 and 2023.
But seriously, since Ascension Day is always on a Thursday, many Lutheran churches forgo having a weekday service and move it to the following Sunday.
St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester chose to hold a service on the actual day, though, so we drove down to Winchester for it.
